Description:
In the war of liberation of 1971 many freedom fighters (muktis) used to attach small flags of Bangladesh on their rifles. A photographer from the world's most famous picture agency Magnum was presented two flags by the muktis while she was covering the war. She was later so deeply moved by what she saw that she gave up photography to join a Budhist monastery. Twenty one years later , in 1992 the Magnum office in London opened her tin trunk and amongst her personal belongings found the two flags which they hung in their office in Mount Pleasant, London. In 1993, Chris Boot, the director of Magnum presented one of the flags to Shahidul Alam, Managing Director of Drik. The other flag is still hanging in the Magnum office in Mount Pleasant.
