Shahidul Alam

About:

Shahidul Alam is an internationally recognized Bangladeshi photographer based in Dhaka. He is also a writer and an activist with interest in education, new media and ICT.

Before taking up photography as a profession he concluded a PhD in Chemistry, in London.

Shahidul is the creator and the principal of Pathshala South East Asian Academy, one of the most important schools of photography in the world.

He also set up Drik, Majority World Picture Agency and Chobi Mela: the photography festival in Asia.

Achievements & Awards:

Honorary fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, Alam has chaired the World Press Photo jury among other honours.

His work has been exposed all over the word, included the White Chapel Gallery and the Tate Modern Gallery in London.
