The river water turned black from last few days in Shyamnagar located extreme north of Bangladesh beside Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world. It is unusual and has never been seen before. A local says that a huge number of Hilsha fish are getting caught in the fishing nets since last week, which is also an unprecedented phenomenon. The salinity of the river water has increased. There are nine rivers around Sundarban forest. Experts have yet to identify the reason behind it. Shyamnagar, Satkhira, Bangladesh. March 31, 2009.
