The Bangladesh Liberation War or Mukti Juddho in Bangla, was a war between West Pakistan (now Pakistan) and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), from 26 March until 16 December 1971. The war started as an insurgency in East Pakistan. Indian support for the insurgency resulted in war between India and Pakistan (the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971), during which Pakistani forces deployed in the East.
