Description:
An Afghan school girl peeps through a tattered part of their tent classroom at Phool-e-Rangeena Government School in the north-western city of Herat. Like many schools throughout the country, the facility has been overwhelmed with children returning to classrooms after years of conflict. Some 7,000 children attend classes in three daily shifts. Aside from the main building, there are 30 tents, donated by the International Organization for Migration, IOM, on the school grounds. The hot, harsh, windy climate has damaged many of the tents. Afghanistan. June 21, 2007.
