Description:
Sylhet, Bangladesh. 30th May 2024. Elderly residents struggle to wade through the flooded main road in the Lafnaut area of Sylhet's Gowainghat upazila. Continuous rain from Cyclone Remal has caused water to gush down from surrounding hills, submerging the road since yesterday. It is noted that many people have left their homes and gone to safe shelters. The low-lying and haor areas of three unions in Sylhet's Jaintapur upazila were inundated due to flash floods prompted by heavy rainfall and water from hill slopes. Around 300 thousand people in four upazilas have been trapped in the water due to the sudden floods.
