Sylhet, Bangladesh. 30th May 2024. In the Barhal area of Goainghat upazila, many houses have been submerged by floodwaters, forcing residents to seek shelter elsewhere with their cattle and poultry. Heavy rains from Cyclone Remal have caused flooding from Meghalaya's mountains, submerging Jaintapur, Goainghat, Kanaighat, and Jakiganj upazilas and trapping about three lakh people.

It is noted that many people have left their homes and gone to safe shelters. The low-lying and haor areas of three unions in Sylhet's Jaintapur upazila were inundated due to flash floods prompted by heavy rainfall and water from hill slopes. Around 300 thousand people in four upazilas have been trapped in the water due to the sudden floods.
