Description:
Fishes caught by fishermen from Arugam Bay on the Indian Ocean, 220 kilometers due east of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The island was devastated in the 2004 tsunami. Many organizations supported the fishing folks by donating plenty of fishing boats, nets and fishing gears. We do not get much fish as we had earlier. Perhaps, the tsunami has done something to the sea and the fishes are gone. Others say- After the tsunami foreigners gave boats and nets to many people so a large number of people are fishing now, as a result number of catch has dropped. Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka. February 2008.
