- Description: Veronica (14 years old) stands outside her hut that she decorated herself, in Rebu village in Tarime district of Mara region in Tanzania. They were married when Veronica was 7 and Frank was only 11. Veronicaâs family received 5 cows. Frank works in his corn and sweet potato farm. Veronica finished 5th grade and Frank 7th. Modesta, Veronicaâs mother-in-law, paid for their education and pretty much raised them, but then she ran out of money and they had to drop out of school. âI love to sing and I really want to be a singer but I donât have the means to get my career started,â Veronica seems like a very happy person. She commented, âI remember my wedding day. It was on a Tuesday January 23. I was wearing a purple dress and a khanga. I didnât understand what marriage was, I was too small but now I know what it means to be married.â âWe are so happy to have a child, we want two more children.â Said Veronica.
