Her family has a bit of ancestral land where they live as well as farm for family consumption. They manage to grow enough that they hardly have to buy any food from market. She also has some chickens that lay eggs.
Pushpa is very satisfied and happy with way things are with her family and considers herself extremely blessed. Commenting about her community service and responsibilities, she said,
âI have been volunteering for my community since 16 years. Everyone in my community knows me and contacts me for advice whenever they need help, particularly women. They are often worried and confused about their personal health issues that they cannot talk about with their families or male doctors.â
âI choose to work as a volunteer because I want to serve my community. Itâs my deepest desire to give something back to people who need it more. I know I have a special place I my community. It gives me pleasure that I cannot buy with money.â
