Every year, on February 2 the city of Salvador, Bahia, celebrates Iemanja's Day on Rio Vermelho Beach. Offering baskets are carried to the beach where they are watched over by the image of Iemanja, waiting to be brought out to sea by saveiros, traditional wooden boats, at sunset where they'll meet the goddess.
