Description:
The remains of Paharpur Buddhist Monastery. The monastery was established by King Dharma Pal in the 7th century. Located in Paharpur village, 5 kilometers west of Jamalganj in the northern district of Rajshahi, this archaeological find covers about 27 acres of land. The main temple is in the center of the Monastery. The architecture of the pyramidal cruciform temple is strongly influenced by those of Southeast Asia, especially Myanmar and Java. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Paharpur, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. August 5, 2008.
