Description:
Yakshagana is a popular dance drama in South India which is performed on request from devotees who have taken a vow to arrange the show for fulfillment of a desire, or as a religious service. The drama is performed normally from the middle of November and ends on 25th of next May each year. The troop is booked for everyday performance during the period of these six months. The dance drama starts at 10pm till 4.00am in the morning. The Yakshagana performers do their own makeup. The heavy face make-up is essential to depict the heavenly characters.
