Description:
Yang Shilu, 82-year-old former floor police lieutenant who had joined the World War II. Before he went on the war with Chinese communism, he was still healthy and able to travel a long journey even though he had a wound from a bomb fragment and a surgical scar, diagonally across the body from shoulder to hip. His only income from writing auspicious poems is not enough for a trip home and search relatives who have not been in touch for more than 60 years in Baoshan City. He still believes that he will find his home once he gets there, although the surroundings have changed a lot. Chiang Mai, Thailand. January 16, 2009. Part of the photo feature, Exiled Kuomintang Returning to Motherland, by Patcharin Toraktrakul.
