Description:
People of Dohar, an upajila (subdistrict) beside the River Padma, 65 km. from the capital city Dhaka, are quite well used to with the highs and lows of flood water. Every year they adjust the height of their homes according to the rise of flood water. But this year they have to shift their homes to safer places. As the northern districts see the receding of flood waters, Dhaka and its surrounding regions are facing a terrible threat of disaster. Waters of the rivers, such as the Padma and the Dhaleshwari, surrounding Dhaka are swelling rapidly. At the same time new areas of Manikganj, Munshiganj, and Dohar upazilas of Dhaka are facing imminent inundation. Dohar, Munshiganj , Bangladesh . August 5, 2007.
