Many residents have evacuated to safe shelters due to heavy rains from Cyclone Remal. The sudden floods, caused by water descending from Meghalaya's mountains, have trapped about three lakh people in Jaintapur, Goainghat, Kanaighat, and Jakiganj upazilas.
