In the Barhal area of Goainghat upazila, many houses have been submerged by floodwaters, forcing residents to seek shelter elsewhere with their cattle and poultry. Heavy rains from Cyclone Remal have caused flooding from Meghalaya's mountains, submerging Jaintapur, Goainghat, Kanaighat, and Jakiganj upazilas and trapping about three lakh people.
