Description : The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is the country's largest and best-preserved cave temple complex, featuring five main sanctuaries situated under a massive rock overhang. The site has been a sacred pilgrimage center for over 22 centuries, dating back to the 1st century BC. The temple is renowned for its extensive collection of ancient mural paintings covering 2,100 square meters and 157 statues of Buddha. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
