The centre is known as General Work and Development Association (GWA), a local NGO. The Association offers a non-formal education programme for adolescent and other women who previously could not attend school, offering classes in basic writing and literacy, as well as vocational training in carpet-weaving, sewing, tailoring, embroidery and other skills. Tehmina's father works for the government but has not been paid for several months.
