Description:
The Third Karnaphuli Bridge over the Karnaphuli river in the port city Chittagong is the first major cable supported crossing in Bangladesh. This 50-million-dollar-project is jointly funded by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) and the Government of Bangladesh (GoB). Construction of the bridge began in 2006 and it is likely to be inaugurated in April 2010. This 950-metre-long and 24.47-metre-wide bridge once completed would connect the southern part of Chittagong with the rest of the country and immensely benefit millions of people of the region and boost up economic as well as tourism activities there.
