Description:
People gathered to watch a bullfight locally known as sharer lorai, at Bolir Haat, on the banks of the Karnaphuli river, in Bakolia, Chittagong. Unlike bullfights in Spain or Portugal where matadors fight against enraged bulls and kill them, the opponent of a bull in the traditional bullfights in Bangladesh is another bull and it is not killed unless it is severely injured. Bullfight is popular in the rural areas of Bangladesh and in Chittagong it takes place about a hundred days before the Eid-ul-Azha (Eid of sacrifice) mostly with the animals to be sacrificed on the Muslim festival. Chittagong, Bangladesh. December 8, 2008..
