The Dancing Devils of Yare, or Diablos Danzantes del Yare, is a religious festival celebrated in San Francisco de Yare, Miranda state, Venezuela, on Corpus Christi day. On this day, a ritual dance is performed by the "Dancing Devils", who wear colourful garments (commonly all red), layers of stripped fabric, masks of grotesque appearance and also accessories like crosses, scapulars, rosaries and other amulets. The celebration lasts till the end of the afternoon when church bells are sounded, signifying the triumph of good over evil for one more year. Venezuela. June 11, 2009.
