There are more than 35 shipyards in Old Dhakas keraniganj area by the side of the Buriganga river, where small ships, launches and steamers are built and repaired round the clock. About 15,000 workers mostly children, work in extremely dangerous condition, earning about Taka. 100 to 150 per day.
