- Description: A young boy lights natural gas at the abandoned gas field in Haripur, 22 km from the north eastern district town of Sylhet. Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production Company Ltd (Bapex) .discovered oil in Haripur field back in the late 80's. The oil was thick and the authorities ran a drilling stamp test to pump out around 500 barrels of oil. But they used the technique applicable for gas production, not for oil production.
